Urban Games is a bold fusion of urban culture and high-level sport. Having become a major international festival in Montreal, the event brings together competitions and demonstrations with local and international professional athletes from different disciplines including soccer freestyle, BMX Flatland, martial arts, combat sports, dance, and more!
Filming this event is always one of my favorites. With so many different disciplines to capture and complete creative freedom from the organizers, it's a refreshing dive into sports that I don't usually cover. For this event, my role involves producing same-day recap videos for social media and delivering a comprehensive event recap within 48 hours. Additionally, I bring on-site editing to a new level by providing athletes with live B-roll footage. As soon as they perform, the editor sends them their best clips, enabling them to create Instagram Reels and TikTok videos with my footage. The athletes loved this approach, and it generated millions of views for the event.
